L'Arlésienne (movie) There have been two notable film versions of Alphonse Daudet's play - an early talking film made in 1930, and one made in 1942 starring the great French actor Raimu and a very young Louis Jourdan. There have also been television versions. The play has never been filmed or televised in English. It has been televised as recently as 1992, under the title Pour un Fille en Rouge (For a Woman in Red).
