Encyclopedia : L : LA : LAU : L'Auberge du Lac Resort

L'Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort (French for The Lake's Inn) is a Lake Charles-based casino owned and operated by Pinnacle Entertainment. Outside of Atlantic City and Las Vegas, it is the largest casino in the United States.

History

Due to outlawing of gambling in nearby Texas, the demand for another large casino with close proximity to the state-line was imminent. The casino opened in May 2005 and employs over 2,000 employees. Despite its grand size, Pinnacle Entertainment is interested in an expansion of the hotel facilities to accommodate the influx of tourists.

Pinnacle announced plans on June 20, 2006 to add 250 rooms at the existing L'Auberge du Lac Resort. The new Sugarcane Bay casino expected to open in 2009 would be connected to the L'Auberge du Lac Resort.

Facility

At 26-stories with 750 guest-rooms, the hotel tower is the tallest building between Houston, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The resort includes a spa, swimming pools and a lazy river, fine restaurants, gift shops, and a world-class 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio. The resort is also known for its entertainment; many celebrities such as Jay Leno and Joan Rivers are brought in to perform acts to guests.

The main dining establishments of the resort include:
