Lake County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 11,276. Its county seat is Madison6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,489 km² (575 mi²). 1,459 km² (563 mi²) of it is land and 31 km² (12 mi²) of it (2.06%) is water.Townships

The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the county, the population was spread out with 23.70% under the age of 18, 15.00% from 18 to 24, 23.40% from 25 to 44, 21.40% from 45 to 64, and 16.30% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.50 males.
