The song is said to deal with suicide and the motives behind it.This song was featured in "Weird Al" Yankovic's song "Angry White Boy Polka" on his album, Poodle Hat.
Kirk Hammett of Metallica has suggested that the main riff for the song was stolen directly from Iron Maiden's, "Hallowed Be Thy Name".
