"Latent Image" is an episode from the fifth season of .

The Doctor encounters his own personal Kobayashi Maru with two people lying on biobeds; both are dying and he must decide who to save. He ultimately chooses to save his friend Harry Kim over Ensign Jetal, a crew member he is less familiar with.

The memories of the incident come back to haunt the Doctor and make him unstable and unable to make decisions on his own. The crew delete the incident from the Doctors memory but he slowly finds hints of what occurred and his psychosis returns. This time the crew decide to deal with it rather than deleting it.
