Lauderhill is located at (26.165679, -80.232589)[Geographic references#1GR1]. It is located in central Broward County. It borders the following municipalities and areas (clockwise, from north):

Demographics
As of the census[Geographic references#2GR2] of 2000, there were 57,585 people, 22,810 households, and 14,279 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,045.7/km² (7,892.8/mi²). There were 25,751 housing units at an average density of 1,362.0/km² (3,529.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 33.83% White, 58.77% African American and Black (a large part from the Caribbean), 0.12% Native American, 1.58% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 1.61% from other races, and 4.04% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.94% of the population.Lauderhill has a high foreign-born population, with a noticeable proportion from the West Indies. 33.65% of Lauderhill's population was born outside of the United States. 24.63% were born in the Caribbean, 14.73% from Jamaica alone. Other major West Indian populations were born in Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada, Dominica, The Bahamas, Guyana, U.S. Virgin Islands, and other Caribbean nations.
There were 22,810 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.4% were married couples living together, 20.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% were non-families. 31.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 84.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $32,515, and the median income for a family was $36,723. Males had a median income of $29,756 versus $25,167 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,243. About 15.5% of families and 17.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.0% of those under age 18 and 13.1% of those age 65 or over.
Trivia
- Lauderhill claims the highest percentage of Jamaican-born elected officials anywhere outside of Jamaica, and is sometimes known fondly by people of West Indian origin as Jamaica Hill.
- Lauderhill boasts a new cricket stadium, which was mooted as a potential venue for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. However, due to internal squabbles among other things the ICC chose to award matches to West Indian stadia only.
