Leading tone is the name given to the 7th scale degree in any of the primary diatonic scales used in music. Is is also known by the solfege term Ti. Note however that in the natural minor, and descending melodic minor scales, the 7th scale degree is lowered a half step, in which case the 7th scale degree is called subtonic.
