Leather Charm was a band formed by James Hetfield and Ron McGovney, prior to their involvemnt in Metallica. This group consisted of Hetfield concentrating solely on vocals, McGovney on bass guitar, Hugh Tanner on guitar and Jim Mulligan on drums.

This band would sound more like glam rock than the thrashings that would come out a few years later with Kill 'Em All.

Leather Charm wrote the song Hit the Lights, appearing later on "Kill 'Em All", which was later re-arranged by the Hetfield/Ulrich axis in 1981.
