Lei Wulong is a video game character from the Tekken fighting game series.
History
Tekken 2 - 3
A five-form martial artist based on Jackie Chan. During Tekken 2 and 3, Lei was a respected police officer dubbed "super cop" who put countless criminals behind bars. He was investigating the illegal hunting and trading of endangered animals done by the Mishima Zaibatsu during Tekken 2. Before Tekken 3 he is investigating the drug dealer Bryan Fury, before Bryan is "killed".Tekken 4
In Tekken 4, he sets out to stop the assassin Nina Williams and the English Mafia sent to kill Steve Fox, in order to restore his waning reputation.Tekken 5
Lei enters Tekken 5 searching for the man (Feng Wei) that has been destroying dojos in China and Japan, thus helping Asuka Kazama who is looking for the man who nearly killed her father - one of the dojo owners sought by Feng. He is also attempting to destroy the Mishima Zaibatsu with the help of Steve Fox.Trivia
- Lei is fond of naps and Sony products
- Lei's character mould is identical to Jackie Chan's Police Story character Ka Kui—the two men are police officers and are displayed as workaholics. Moreso, they also, unintentionally, create humor in their given circumstances (Lei's Tekken 5 ending features Lei arresting a criminal after a fight on the top of a bus and reporting back to headquarters, only to be knocked off the bus due to a road sign that hit him at the back of his head).
- Lei's first, traditional chinese-looking uniform is inspired from Jackie Chan's clothes in the film "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow". His second one is of course inspire by the film "Police Story".
- His fighting style is also inspired from Jackie Chan films: his five-animal stance is a direct reference to Jackie Chan film "Spiritual King-Fu" and his drunken stance is of course inspired by Jackie Chan "Drunken Master" films.
- Lei is voiced by Hiroya Ishimaru, a professional voice actor best known for voicing Koji Kabuto, the pilot of Japan's most loved classic giant robot, Mazinger Z. Curiously, he is the Japanese voiceover for Jackie Chan in almost all his movies dubbed to the language. Ishimaru speaks English in the Tekken series, however.
