The LeperKhanz are an Irish folk music group that mixes ancient sea shantys with modern hip-hop and rock.
Originally formed in 2003, their original line up included Brett Wood and Todd Pyke who left the band late in 2004 to pursue other projects, amidst rumors of controversy.
Since "Nino" and Colin joined the band, they have been on tour throughout the United States. The LeperKhanz are also associated with the "Greening of the Gaslamp", a movement of increased Irish culture in the San Diego area. In 2005 they were nominated for a San Diego Music Award.
The LeperKhanz have performed on television, particularly around the St. Patrick's Day holiday. (KUSI, Telemundo)
Their 2005 studio album "Tiocfaidh Ar La" (Irish for "Our day will come" which has been known as an IRA slogan, though they claim no affiliaition, other than "Our day will ALSO come.") has been played on radio stations in both the US and Ireland (FM94.9 San Diego, KCXX-FM X103.9 San Bernardino, KRBD-FM 105.9 Ketchikan, others), and is popular on "Paddy Rock Radio" in Chicago.
The LeperKhanz are known to perform frequently with horn players from "The Fabulous Rudies".
