Liškiava

Liškiava (Polish: ) is a historic town in Varėna district in Lithuania situated on the bank of Neman River. A leisure boat route connects Liškiava with Druskininkai, few kilometres south along the river.
History
In 11th century a Slavic hill fort, Nowogródek was built on the mound by Neman. In the end of 14th century Vytautas the Great erected a stone castle on the hill. Only ruins of one tower remain today.
