Lichtenwörth is a town in Austria. It is situated by the Leitha and Warmer Fischa.

The market town has a kindergarten school, an elementary school and a high school. It also has a music school.

History

The place was first mentioned in the 12th century.

In the 12th century, a castle was built. Magyars, Turks and Mongols invaded the city at times.

In 1753, the fabric manufacturer named Nadelburg were owned by the regency of Maria Theresa. The factory was denationalized in 1769. It was replaced by mills. The Nadelburg was closed in 1930. It is now a museum.

Lichtenwörth became a market town in 1992.
