Lieven de Key

The Vleeshal at the Grote Markt in Haarlem is a prime example of the work of Lieven de Key. It was built in 1602-1604.

Lieven de Key (1560—July 17, 1627) was a famous architect in the Netherlands. He became city architect of Haarlem in 1592.

Buildings he designed:

• the Stads Timmerhuis in Leiden
• the Vleeshal in Haarlem
• the gymnasium in Leiden
• the Waag in Haarlem
• front of the city hall of Haarlem
• the Frans Hals Museum
