Linga Holm

Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIN : Linga Holm

Linga Holm is a tiny uninhabited island (roughly extending to 57ha or 141 acres) situated 700m west of the island of Stronsay, in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. Although so small, it is thought to be the third largest breeding ground for the Atlantic Grey Seal in the world, and an important nesting site for Greylag geese. As with its neighbouring island and the rest of the Orkneys, it contains numerous archeological remains, including pictish houses and ancient cairns.
