Lisan al-Gaib

Lisan al-Gaib is a term from the Dune universe, created by Frank Herbert. Used to describe series character Paul Atreides, in Fremen it means "The Voice from the Outer World". In Fremen messianic legends, an off-world prophet, who comes and leads them to paradise. They also use the term Mahdi to describe his messianic qualities. The term is roughly taken from the Arabic description of an Islamic prophet. It was also used as the name for a Tennessee space rock band in the last 1990's.
