This is a list of Delaware county name etymologies:
There are three counties in Delaware.
- Kent County, Delaware: Kent was named in 1682 by William Penn for the English county of Kent.
- New Castle County, Delaware: New Castle was named in 1673 by Dutch Governor Anthony Colve for the town of New Castle, Delaware.
- Sussex County, Delaware: Sussex was named in 1682 by William Penn for the English county of Sussex, which was his home county.
