List of Neopian worlds

Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIS : List of Neopian worlds

This is a list of Neopian worlds in alphabetical order. A Neopian world is a type of virtual land in Neopia (A virtual pets website) where players venture with their Neopets. Each one has its own appearance and "culture", but consists of common areas such as shops and recreational spots (that is, games). Note that technically, regions or lands is more literally accurate than the commonly used term worlds, as these are all actually subdivisions of (or in orbit around, in the case of Kreludor) the planet of Neopia.

Altador (Talador)

The city on the other side of Neopia is called Altador. It is a Greek/Roman inspired city. Not much is known about Altador, but it is known that the Darkest Faerie tried to take over Altador 1000 years ago, only to be put under a curse and thrown into the ocean. She can be seen in the Ruins Of Maraqua.

Proof of its existence can be found on the Neopets Trading Cards Siyana of Talador and Jerdana. The Neopets Trading Card Game set 'The Darkest Faerie' reveals that its crest is a yellow and orange sun.

Altador is ruled by 12 protectors, each having their own constellation. For more information, see .

Altador was originally called Talador, but was changed to Altador for legal reasons.

As of March 1, 2006, Altador has finally appeared. It is located on the other side of Neopia.

One place to find Altador is a Portal-Entrance in Faerie City on the Faerie castle created by Queen Fyora. [link]
As of June 24, 2006, with the introduction of a globe-type map, Altador is on the main Neopets map, indicated as a round clearing in the forest to the west of the Haunted Woods.

Since the Neopedia article on Altador, there has been a 'Hall of Heroes', containing statues of the 12 Protectors. There is a small quest which is contained only within the newly found world. In the Hall of Heroes there is a janitor who, as an in-joke uses the same character design of the Lost Desert Foreman. Many fan sites now host plot guides. [link]. The quest has ended, and the prizes have yet to be announced to those who participated.

Altador Cup

The Altador Cup has begun on June 9, to capitalize the popularity of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. There are 16 teams, 1 team for the majority of the worlds in Neopia, as well as Darigan Citadel and Brightvale, but not including Neopia Central, Bogshot Village, Lutari Island, or The Lost City of Geraptiku. The Altador Cup CANNOT be accessed through the main Altador world, but these links do work.

Faerieland

Faerieland is one of the fantasy worlds. It consists of two areas, Faerieland and Faerie City. It is the home many famous Neopians, including the Faerie Queen, Fyora, who sells powerful, expensive items from a Hidden Tower in Faerie City as well as ruling wisely over the city, and the evil Dark Faerie Jhudora, who lives on a cloud outside of the city, and gives out prizes in return for quests.

Faerieland has never had a plot attached to it, though it did play a large part in NeoQuest II, as the final Act. There, Queen Fyora had been captured and imprisoned by a giant Draik named King Terask, and needed to be saved by the players' characters, Rohane, Mipsy, Talinia, and Velm. The Faerie Queen will also play a role in the video game , as the one who banished The Darkest Faerie in the first place, though it is uncertain whether or not Faerieland itself will be a major setting.

Haunted Woods

The Haunted Woods is the Halloween-themed section of Neopia. It is the center for anything spooky or scary in Neopia: if you're looking for a headless ghost or an army of zombies in Neopia, here is where you will find it.

There are two sections in the Haunted Woods: the woods themselves, and the Deserted Fairground. In the woods, you'll find quite a few monstrous creatures (as well as a witch) who want to send you out on quests for them. The Esophagor wants food, Edna the witch wants spell reagents, and the Brain Tree just wants knowledge (but the only way to find the answer to his question is to complete two quests for the Esophagor). There are shops here, as well, along with the Game Graveyard, the final resting place for the games that had been taken off the site. The other area, the Deserted Fairground, is anything but deserted. As well as having the obligatory carnival games (which the owners will assure you are not rigged), there are shops and a scratch card booth.

While there have been no plots associated with the Haunted Woods, there are a good number of established characters from this world. Some of these are:

Jelly World

Jelly World is a secret land in the far side of Neopia. There is a giant blob of jelly for Neopets to enjoy. There are two games and a "Blob of Green Jelly". One of the games claims to have an online movie coming in Winter 2006.

Krawk Island

Krawk Island is a pirate-themed "island". Here, you can visit a restaurant, have your Neopet trained by the Academy, play games such as Armada and Dubloon Disaster, and buy expensive, extremely rare items at the Smuggler's Cove. You can also visit the Fungus Caves and turn a Krawk petpet into a fully grown Krawk Neopet. Krawk Island is the only Neopian world with its own currency, Dubloons. Contrary to popular belief, Krawks are not native to Krawk Island. They were driven from Tyrannia to the island before the pirates arrived. The pirates thought that the Krawks were native to the island and named it after them.

Kreludor

Kreludor is a fictional world, the moon of the main planet Neopia. Users can visit a Neocola Machine, buy books or eat there at a fancy cafe. They may also go to the Mining Centre where they may try to find the codes of 8 numbers, 1-9. It seems the correct code was lost when the Neopets staff decided to cancel the Sloth Plot that was going to happen sometime in late 2004, but in truth, it is part of the most recent plot featuring the Lost Desert, to find a clue for the Temple of 1000 Tombs.

The Mining Centre is run by the fictional Neopets villain Dr. Frank Sloth. Grundos live on Kreludor, not Virtupets Station, as most players think, though they were originally taken from the planet Doran by Dr. Sloth. (However, it is possible that Sloth was leaking misinformation to keep Neopets from discovering Kreludor and the Mining Centre, as it is often said that Grundos originated on Kreludor.)

Maraqua

Maraqua is a mysterious city that was destroyed by pirates. Little is known about Maraqua since its destruction, because it was seperated from the outer world in order to prevent its destruction again. There is a mysterious statue at the bottom, as well as a bubbling pit.

Neopets users can buy a rare "Maraquan Paint Brush" for (usually) over 1 million Neopoints so that they can turn one of their pets into a Maraquan Neopet; there is also a corresponding Petpet version of that paintbrush. New Maraquan Neopets appear with some regularity.

Before it was destroyed, Maraqua originally had shops, such as Utility Fish, Maraquan Foods, a Maraquan Chef and Maraquan Petpets. The Maraquan petpets were moved to Mystery Island, and the Kitchen chef, who was originally a shrimp but was moved to Mystery Island and turned into a Flotsam. Flotsam, Jetsam, and Koi live in Maraqua, but Kikos visit this area often.

In Year 6 (2004), Neopets staff hinted that Maraqua was going to be rebuilt sometime in 2005. In the Advent Calendar for Year 6, Neopets gave a "Rebuild Maraqua" poster for users to put in their Neohomes. At the end of the year, Neopets staff announced on the site's news page that Maraqua was going to be rebuilt in 2005.

In Year 7 (2005), a war known as the Curse of Maraqua occurred between the remaining Maraquans and a group of pirates, led by Captain Scarblade. As the Maraquans were trying to rebuild their underwater land, Scarblade and his pirates were trying to destroy it. A war ensued, where the players of Neopets could pick whether they wanted to be a pirate or a Maraquan. The Maraquans defeated the Pirates with an overwhelming score, and New Maraqua continued to grow.

The 'New Maraqua' is now rebuilt and can be visited by everyone. There is a collectible sea shell shop, a restaurant called "Kelp" that is now available for anyone to visit, a weaponry shop and a link to the ruins of Maraqua. The Neopets Team promises that there will be many more links now that the plot is finished. One new addition is a "fishing game" in the ruins of old Maraqua, which offers prizes ranging from an old boot to powerful Battledome weapons such as the Pike Pike.

It is often thought that the Lab Ray is located in the Haunted Woods. However, if you look at the map, you will see it is underwater, underneath Mystery Island.

Meridell

Meridell is the medieval themed land in Neopia, ruled by the grumpy King Skarl. It holds many attractions to the Neopets users, most of them involving fruits. Meridell is divided into 5 parts, The Meridell Castle, The Darigan Citadel (Citadel of Evil), Meri Acres Farm, Brightvale, and the Meridell main page. Ixis and Draiks are native to Meridell.

The Main Map

The Turmaculus, like the Snowager, is a giant petpet who can give you great rewards... at a risk. If you can wake him, he might give your petpet an item or a level. He also might eat your petpet. Illusen’s Glade is where you can receive Illusen’s Quests. Meridell also includes a food shop, a petpet shop, a cheese-rolling game, a bullseye game, and a frog-kissing game.

And, you can also, get an avatar (a little icon that goes along with you when you post on the boards), when taking your petpet (your Neopet's pet) to the symol's hole.

Darigan Citadel

Contains Darigan Coloring Pages, Darigan Toys, a strategy game called Cellblock, a Petpet Arena where you can battle with your petpets, and Lord Darigan’s Chamber which serves the sole purpose of making everyone wonder if there really will be a third war.

Brightvale

In year 6, a new area known as Brightvale opened. Ruled by Skarl's brother Hagan, this kingdom focuses more on the Renaissance theme, focusing strongly on the importance of knowledge. Its main attractions are the Wheel of Knowledge, (one can win a stained glass window, a Brightvale job coupon, a cheat code for a game, or the biggest ripoff of all, a sentence of wisdom from the mouth of King Hagan himself.)

Hagan believes that wisdom can triumph where war cannot. During the Meridell Wars, he didn’t help his brother, even when Skarl needed him most. This appears to be how Hagan showed his disapproval for the war.

Brightvale is famous for its stained-glass windows.

The First Meridell War

Among Neopian lands, Meridell has had the most wars on record: an amazing two. The first was a dispute between Lord Darigan and King Skarl, long after Meridellian forces forcibly took an orb from Lord Darigan's kingdom that would provide prosperity for its owner. While Meridell developed into the thriving land today, the Darigan territory was left to degenerate, and diseases mutated the residents. Lord Darigan's army won the battle against the Meridell Defenders (users got to choose whom to support between the two forces), but when Darigan regained the orb, he went mad with power. Both sides realized that he had to be stopped. Finally, The Spectre of Lord Darigan was defeated by all Neopians teaming up and working together, but the pet Majal_Kita delivered the finishing blow (in the plot, however, Darigan's downfall seems to be attributed to Jeran and Kass). Both sides (each led by Master Vex and King Skarl) still thirsted for power, however, and desired the Orb that Darigan had left behind. But before either side could claim it, it gave a flash of light and split in half.

One important character in Champions of Meridell (the first Meridell war) was the Blue Lupe, Sir Jeran Borodere. Jeran was Meridell's champion knight, and the main character of both Meridell plots. When he and his sister Lisha the Aisha were young, they were playing a game of Hide and Seek in the castle ruins. Jeran tripped over a root and was transported three hundred years into the past. Years later, when Lisha was a teenager, she saw her brother's picture in a museum. Encouraged by this picture, she went to search for the brother she had lost so long ago. When they arrived at the castle, they were about to start a search for any clues, but this proved unnecessary, as Lisha's toy wand was much more powerful than anyone could have expected, and they wound up in the middle of Meridell, with all its sinister plots and quests for power. Lisha was reunited with her brother, now over twenty years old and stronger than ever.

The Second Meridell War

Only a few years after the first war, Meridell was once again forced to raise arms against Darigan. A new leader, by the name of General Kass, sowed the seeds of war and rallied Darigan's troops against Meridell. By using emotional propaganda, he misled most of the Darigan Citadel's civilians into believing that Skarl would start another conflict and persuaded them to perform a sneak attack before Meridell could. Kass sent a court dancer to the King, and the dancer's performances hypnotized some Meridellians into attacking their fellow countrymen. Others were simply too delusioned to do anything. Lisha played what could be called a vital role in the plot by casting a spell to stop the Court Dancer's scheme. After this had been dealt with, Meridell still had to deal with a ground attack from Kass' War Machines.

The champion Meridell Knight, Jeran, realized that Kass had made a serious tactical error. Due to Kass putting a full effort into a ground invasion, the Citadel was completely vulnerable to an aerial assault. Jeran quickly assembled a strike force consisting of himself and his finest knights to launch a surprise attack directly against the Citadel, hoping to end the war.

During this time, Lord Darigan, well thought to be dead, was living in a Meri Acres barn, and he was in tatters physically and mentally. But when Kass's army started to advance to Meridell and attacked the farm where he was staying, the mention of his name by some of the surprised men caused him to regain his memory. After saying farewell to his caretaker, a young Usul named Sally (no known relation to the Usuki collector), he left for the Citadel, regretting how he had ruled before. When he arrived, Kass was startled by Darigan's sudden re-appearance, believing the former ruler to be deceased. Nevertheless, Kass attempted to finish him off once and for all and the two leaders engaged in a heated duel atop the Citadel.

But eventually, Kass succumbed to Revenge, Greed, and Ambition (personified as "The Three", a group made up of a Dark Faerie, a skeletal Skeith, and a ghostly Gelert) that were controlling him. After Kass' death at the hands of The Three, Lord Darigan once again made peace between his people and those in Meridell.

There is debate about the role that each of the children from the future played in this war, and whether any of them had the power to change history. Lisha broke the Court Dancer's spell over the kingdom of Meridell. Kayla opened a potions shop, and brewed a potion to make Turtums (giant turtles with armored shells resembling tanks) grow hundreds of times their size and able to be used as war mounts, which proved vital when defending Meridell against Kass' War Machines.

Meanwhile, Morris and Boris, by drinking special potions, teleported up to the Citadel during the final battle with Lord Kass, and it was in rescuing them that Sir Jeran was knocked off the Citadel. While these actions certainly could have changed the past, it is uncertain whether Neopets' form of time travel would allow for the change, or if Meridell is still doomed to destruction, as predicted by the Neopedia article about the Destruction of Meridell.

As of April 2006, the Kingdom of Meridell is at a formal truce with the Darigan Citadel.

The Darkest Faerie

The kingdom of Meridell featured prominently in the video game spinoff, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, where it was taken over and posessed by the Darkest Faerie.

Mini-worlds

Apart from its main worlds, Neopets has several mini-worlds, which are similar to the main worlds but are not labeled on the explore map [link].

Kiko Lake

The mini-world Kiko Lake is dedicated to the pet species Kiko. At the moment, it only houses two shops, the Glass Bottom Boat Tours [link], and colouring pages.

External links: [Kiko Lake]

Lutari Island

Lutari Island is said to be the home of the otter-like Neopet Lutari, as well as the possible home of a new faerie. It has been released on the other side of neopia, but is currently covered with fog.

Lutari Island is found at http://www.neopets.com/tropical/index.phtml

Unlike all of the other worlds in Neopia, you can only access this world through mobile phones.

Roo Island

Roo Island is a mini-world and the home of the pet species Blumaroo. Highlights of the island include two dice games, Dice-A-Roo, a game where you can win food items and bottled faerie's as well as an avatar. [link] and Deadly Dice [link] (which is only playable from midnight Neopian Standard Time (NST) to 1:00 AM NST).

Bogshot Village

Bogshot Village is north of the Kingdom of Brightvale and east of the Crossroads (the place where the paths to the Kingdoms of Meridell and Brightvale meet). It is a village that lies on the edge of a vast swampland. Other than the end of Meridell's borders, there is nothing to the north or east of this lonely, misty, village.

Although this is a confirmed world in the video and as a Mini-World in the Neopets Magazine, its release date is unknown. However, A lot of Sophie themed stuff has appeared and since she lives in Bogshot it could be assumed that it will also be released

Here is a list of shops in Bogshot Village:

The Lost City of Geraptiku

This is one of the more recently added mini-worlds, located on Mystery Island. The city has been abandoned, but there are still a few things to do. It features coloring pages, a petpet shop that rarely restocks, and a deserted tomb at which players may try their luck at once a day to find lost treasure.

Mystery Island

Mystery Island is a tropical island hundreds of miles away from other Neopian worlds. There are several points of interest, such as the Cooking Pot (where users can put in up to three items as an offering and if the right combination are put in, you may get a brand new item!), Tombola (at which users may try to win free items, like the codestones you can use at the Training School, once per day), and even an island-themed tour guide. While on Mystery Island, one can use the Trading Post to exchange items with other users. This is advisable, as the Trading Post is the only legal way to trade your goods in Neopia. Kougras, Techos, Quiggles, Nimmos, Acaras, and JubJubs are natives. It was introduced late in the year 2000, as one of the first "worlds" one could visit.

Tyrannia

Tyrannia is a prehistoric world. It gets its name from the Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur, which the Neopet Grarrl is based on. There is a jungle in the south and the plateau in the north. Tyrannia was "discovered" when there was an earthquake in the Ice Caves area of Neopets, causing a crack to form in the ground. Previously, this crack could be used as a quick "portal" to Tyrannia from the Ice Caves (Terror Mountain). In Tyrannia, one can visit a concert, grab a slice of Giant Omelette, play such games as Go! Go! Go! or buy Tyrannian furniture at their furniture store. Native pets include the Pteri, the Chomby, the Grarrl, the Scorchio, and the Tonu.

Terror Mountain

Terror Mountain is the home of the Bruce, Bori, the Cybunny, Poogle and the Snow Faerie. It is divided into three separate places to explore: Happy Valley, Terror Mountain and the Ice Caves. The discovery of Tyrannia occurred because of a crack in the floor of the Ice caves, a section of Terror Mountain.

In Happy Valley, there is an Ice Cream Cart where you use coupons to buy ice creams, and an Advent Calendar where you can claim free gifts everyday during the Month of Celebrating (December).

The Ice Caves contain an Ice Arena, a stratch card kiosk, a "neggery" to exchange neggs, and the Snowager's Cave, where you can attempt to steal the Snowager's treasure while it is asleep.

The top of Terror Mountain has a shop of mystery where you can buy random mystery items, a toy repair shop for broken toys, an Igloo Garage Sale, and various games.

Virtupets Space Station

This is a space world built by Doctor Frank Sloth. In Year 2 (2000), The Evil Docter Sloth came to neopia to make all the neopets his mutant slaves, (after enslaving grundos). The was finally stopped, by the Space Faerie, now his space station is a tourist attarction and pretty fun. There are many famous neopians on the space station. Gargarox, the Grundo Chef who is the Cook at Grundo's Cafe, he likes playing Gormball in his spare time. The Spider Grundo, a mutant grundo Dr Sloth made, Inigmah the space Brain, who used to work for doctor sloth and hack computers, he did the game Codebreaker, that was taken down.
