List of Nigerian state governors

The following table presents a listing of Nigeria's state governors. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms). A minister appointed by the president oversees affairs in the Abuja Federal Capital Territory.
The current party affiliation of the 36 state governors is:
- 27 People's Democratic Party (PDP)
- 7 All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP)
- 1 Alliance for Democracy (AD)
- 1 All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
Notes
- Peter Obi replaces Chris Ngige, whose 2003 election victory was overturned by the Nigerian Federal Court of Appeal on 15 March 2006.
- Goodluck Jonathan replaces Diepreye Alamieyeseigha (elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2003) who was impeached on 9 December 2005.
- Christopher Alao-Akala replaces Rasheed Ladoja (elected in 2003) who was impeached on 12 January 2006.
- Joshua Dariye was suspended for a period of six months (18 May – 18 November) in 2004.
