According to the Cellular Telephone and Internet Association (CTIA), there are over 180 facilities-based wireless providers in the United States. The five largest (in order) are Cingular Wireless (55.8 million customers), Verizon Wireless (51.3 million), Sprint Nextel Corporation (48.3 million), T-Mobile USA (22.7 million) and Alltel (10.6 million).
