This is a list of cities in Norway by population.

The population is measured by Statistics Norway. As there are no city limits in Norway, the statistics bureau uses the term tettsted (urban settlement or urban area), which is defined as a continuous built-up area with a maximum distance of 50 metres between residences. Many urban areas in Norway have witnessed conurbation and grown together, such as in the Greater Oslo area, or neighboring cities such as Stavanger and Sandnes or Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg.

The urban areas with the highest population, according to Statistics Norway, are:

  1. Oslo, 811.688Includes the neighboring municipalities Bærum, Asker, Skedsmo, Lørenskog and Oppegård in their entirety as well as parts of Røyken, Sørum, Nittedal, Rælingen and Ski.
