This is a list of cities that had trolleybuses at some time in the past as part of their public transport system, and do not have them today.

  • Kabul کابل (February 1979 - 1993). Closed due to civil-war damage, reopening planned.

  • La Habana /Havana. Test operation began 18 September 1949 along tramway lines using "All-Service Vehicles" purchased secondhand from Newark, New Jersey, US. This was possible with little effort because Havana's tramway had twin-wire overhead. Regular service not operated.
