The following is a list of placenames that prominently feature the names of two or more constituent geopolitical entities. Most are conjoined using hyphenation or grammatical conjunction.

Many federal states of Germany, regions of France, federal subjects of Russia and autonomous communities of Spain also feature two or more placenames conjoined by a hyphen or with the word "and" (or its translation).

United Kingdom

Includes defunct personal unions and dissolved political unions.

Triple

Traditionally or conventionally conjoined entities

Separate entities historically treated as one single unit.

Some names have been coined as an alternative to using hyphenation or grammatical conjunction.

False double placename

The word "and" in its name does not signify the union of two distinct territories. In at least one case, the name of a city in two different languages has been joined by a hyphen to become the community's official name:
