List of minor STARS characters in Resident Evil
Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIS : List of minor STARS characters in Resident Evil
This is a list of minor characters appearing in the Resident Evil video game series who are members of S.T.A.R.S.
Alpha Team
Joseph Frost
}}Joseph Frost or "Frosty" was Alpha Team's "omni-man", in charge of vehicular and armament maintenance. He was identified by his signature red bandanna and was considered the most cheerful member of the team by his S.T.A.R.S. compatriots. Although always upbeat and positive, he was also considered one of the most aggressive members as he preferred to carry a customized Remington M870 Tactical shotgun into confrontation, instead of the S.T.A.R.S. "Samurai Edge" 9mm pistol.
When Alpha Team was sent to Raccoon Forest to investigate Bravo Team's disappearance, Frost discovered Bravo Team's ruined helicopter and the remains of its pilot, "Kevin Dooley". Shortly after his gruesome find, he was attacked by infected "Cerberus" guard dogs. Putting up a desperate fight against the terrifying creatures, his teammates scattered in confusion, Frost eventually succumbed to their superior numbers and was mauled to death. He was the first (and only true) casualty of Alpha Team during the Arklay incident and his death served as a chilling warning to the others as to the seriousness of their situation. Without a doubt, Joseph was infected with the T-Virus during the attack. It is probable to assume that his corpse returned to life after infection and was likely killed, once again, in the explosion of Spencer Mansion.
Appearances: Resident Evil
Brad Vickers
}}Brad Vickers was Alpha Team's pilot. Originally from a small mid-western town called Delucia, he was recruited by S.T.A.R.S. in Raccoon City and assigned to "Rear Security" within Alpha Team, where he was placed in charge of chemical protection, as well as being assigned the role of Alpha Team's primary helicopter pilot. He was often teased by his peers for his cynical and moody personality, as well as his somewhat cowardly tendencies. Some fans say that he is the most normal of the survivors, for his tendency of running in the face of danger.
During the Arklay mission, after finding the Bravo Team's destroyed helicopter, Alpha Team was attacked by the "Cerberus" zombie dogs whilst searching for Bravo Team's remaining members. Vickers was overcome with fear and fled the landing site in Alpha's helicopter, leaving the rest of the team to seek refuge within the nearby Spencer Mansion. Sometime later, Vickers regained his composure and began searching the area from the safety of the skies above, attempting to communicate with the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members via his onboard radio as they investigated the facility. When the S.T.A.R.S. survivors managed to fight their way into the mansion's heliport and signal Brad using an emergency flare, they were attacked by the Tyrant B.O.W., which had been unleashed by the rogue operative, Albert Wesker. Brad provided critical assistance in the destruction of the rampaging monster by dropping the team a rocket launcher, and airlifting the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members (Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Rebecca Chambers) to safety before the mansion was destroyed by it's self-destruct system, activated earlier by the team to halt the spread of the T-Virus.
Sometime after the mansion incident, Brad became one of the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members targeted by Umbrella's experimental Nemesis B.O.W. sent to Raccoon City during the T-Virus outbreak. On September 28, during the chaotic few days that followed the mass-infection of almost the entire Raccoon City populace, Brad was relentlessly pursued by the Nemesis through the ruined city. While trying to escape his assailant, he was seriously wounded by a zombie at the Bar Jack where he came into contact with fellow Alpha Team member, Jill Valentine (if the player chooses not to assist Brad, he'll be far less forthcoming with his information). Warning Jill of the danger they both faced, Brad fled the area in his panicked attempt to escape the creature pursuing him. While making his way towards the R.P.D precinct, seeking Raccoon City's last hope of safety from the encroaching hordes of infected citizens, he was caught by the Nemesis and brutally killed right in front of a horrified Jill Valentine. Due to the high amount of T-Virus infected cells in the Nemesis' tentacles, and possibly infection from his previous wounds, Brad's corpse soon joined the ranks of the undead.
In Resident Evil 2 (which chronologically takes place between the first and second half of the third game), a zombified version of Brad can be found wandering the precinct's perimeter as a hidden enemy if the player reaches the station in the first scenario without picking up any items (excluding documents) or changing weapons in the City Area. Brad has a higher vitality than regular zombies, but is still easily eliminated with the Remington 1100, the Desert Eagle or a headstomp if he manages to grab the character while down. Once killed, the player can search Brad's corpse for a key, which is used to open the locker inside the dark room and change the character's outfit (which also unlocks the Colt Single Action Army for Claire Redfield). If the player has already encountered Brad in the first scenario, he can also be found wandering the same area of the precinct's perimeter in the second. In the Nintendo 64 version, the player can also gain access to his diary as an "EX File" in which one entry tells of his attempts to escape from the Nemesis.

Bravo Team
Richard Aiken
}}Richard Aiken was Bravo Team's back-up man. He excelled not only in combat tactics, but also in communications. He was a cheerful and openhearted member of S.T.A.R.S., who was always helpful to the more recent members and was supporting of Rebecca on her first mission. He also preferred to wield a formidable custom assault shotgun that he personally modified to more suitably fit the S.T.A.R.S. team's unique operational situations.
During the mansion incident, he was poisoned in an attack by the B.O.W. "Yawn", and was tended by Bravo Team's medical officer, Rebecca Chambers, until the arrival of Alpha Team. Alpha's members fought through the mansion desperately searching for a suitable antidote to the highly toxic venom coursing through Richard's veins. Their efforts proved successful and they delivered the serum to him in time to neutralize the effects of the B.O.W.'s venom. In gratitude, he gave the team his tactical radio, which they later used to receive incoming transmissions from the team's pilot, Brad. However, Richard himself did not live to escape the mansion.
Richard is one of the most prominent and memorable minor characters of Bravo Team due to the way his death changes between versions of the first game. In the original Resident Evil release, the player finds Richard, who proclaims that the mansion is full of demons, before charging the player with finding the serum to save him. Nevertheless, Richard dies regardless of whether the serum is delivered to him on time or not (in Chris' scenario, he is already dead if the player has already encountered Rebecca in the Medicine Room). In the GameCube remake, his life can be prolonged if he's given the serum. He manages to survive further into the game until the story reaches a certain point, where he is given a more heroic death. In Jill's scenario, he helps her fight the Yawn, only to push her aside and be swallowed by the creature as it lunges towards her. In Chris' scenario, he is killed by Neptune, an infected shark pushing Chris Redfield out of the creature's path, in the underground Aqua Ring when he sees the creature surfacing to attack the unexpecting Chris. At this point, the player can obtain Richard's customized Remington M870 Tactical shotgun. With its higher load capacity (up to ten rounds) and greater firepower, it's a preferable alternative to the standard shotgun.
In the "Rebirth Mode" featured in Deadly Silence (the Nintendo DS version of the game), instead of delivering a Serum to Richard, the player has the choice of giving CPR (by blowing into the microphone) to Richard. He ends up dying anyway, but not before revealing an alternate solution to the clock puzzle in the dining room. After solving the initial puzzle, if the player checks the clock once again and enters the time given by Richard, additional shotgun shells will be dropped from the ceiling to pick up.
Also in Deadly Silence, Richard is an unlockable character in the game's wireless multiplayer mode. The player can unlock Richard by completing all three stages in the Competitive Mode. His specializes in using wide-range weapons such as the shotgun.
Appearances: Resident Evil 0 (non-speaking cameo), Resident Evil
Edward Dewey
}}Edward Dewey was Bravo Team's primary pilot and was also assigned to "rear security" duties within the team. In addition to being a professional pilot, he was also a skilled rifleman. Dewey was also the tallest member of S.T.A.R.S., and was a known dance enthusiast.
On Bravo Team's flight over the Arklay region, Kevin Dooley served as the team's pilot instead, while Edward assisted him as a flight navigator. After the team experienced an engine failure and was forced to land in a remote region of Raccoon Forest, Edward armed himself with his rifle and began scouting the area. After diverging from the rest of the team, Edward was attacked by infected 'Cerberus' guard dogs and was fatally injured. He managed to escape the creatures by fleeing into a nearby train (the Ecliptic Express) but died of his wounds before Rebecca, who was scouting the train, could administer medical assistance. Edward is the first S.T.A.R.S. operative killed on the Arklay mission.
Sometime later, Edward returned to life as a zombie due to his earlier exposure to the T-Virus. Rebecca, left with little choice, disposed of her former comrade.
Edward did not appear in the original Resident Evil or the remake, but was mentioned in the manual of the original as Bravo Team's pilot, and it was long assumed by fans of the series that the severed hand found by Joseph Frost in the original opening scene belonged to Edward. However, with the release of the remake and Resident Evil 0, it became apparent that the severed hand most likely belonged to Kevin Dooley or possibly one of the many Umbrella research or security personnel that also fell victim to the creatures roaming the mansion before the arrival of the S.T.A.R.S. unit.
Appearances: Resident Evil 0
Enrico Marini
}}Enrico Marini was Bravo Team's leader and second-in-command of the Special Tactics And Rescue Service. He was a seasoned veteran, who had mastered several survival techniques and was deeply respected among both his superiors and subordinates. Although he was a natural leader and the original candidate for command of the S.T.A.R.S. unit, that position was instead appointed to Albert Wesker due to the Umbrella Corporation's intervention. Enrico was also an avid golfer during his free time.
Enrico and his team were sent to the Raccoon Forest located within the Arklay Mountain region to investigate the serial homicides that had been occurring in that area. After being forced to land their helicopter in Raccoon Forest, Enrico ordered his team to search and secure the site. Upon a quick recon of the surrounding area, they uncovered an overturned military transport vehicle with the remains of two MP officers inside. The team also found documents containing information about a prisoner that was being transported, Billy Coen, at the time of the attack. Suspecting the officer's deaths to have come at the hands of their prisoner, he ordered his team to split up and search for Coen.
During his pursuit, Enrico encountered the various twisted creatures that had been created by the Umbrella Corporation's Arklay research team. His investigation led him to Umbrella's underground laboratory within Raccoon City, where he encountered fellow Bravo Team rookie, Rebecca Chambers. Choosing to abort his search for Billy, Enrico decided that rendezvous with the rest of his team was of utmost priority and he sought refuge from the monsters within Spencer Mansion, where much of Bravo Team was located.
During his exploration of the Arklay Research Facility, Enrico uncovered evidence of a conspiracy by Umbrella and a traitor within the S.T.A.R.S. unit. When Alpha Team was exploring the mansion in search of the missing Bravo Team members, they met with an injured Enrico within the mansion's underground passages. However, Enrico was killed by Albert Wesker before he could reveal the exact details of his recently acquired knowledge with the rest of the team, managing only to disclose the existence of a traitor within the S.T.A.R.S. force, and the Umbrella Corporation being somehow involved with the recent incidents around the Arklay Mountains.
In Deadly Silence, Enrico is an unlockable character in the game's wireless multiplayer mode. The player can unlock Enrico by completing all three stages in the Cooperative Mode. He specializes in every kind of weapon.
Appearances: Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil
Forest Speyer
}}Forest Speyer was Bravo Team's "omni-man". Speyer was in charge of vehicular and armament maintenance. He had a strong sense of professionalism, was known to be proud of his perfect work record and was deeply trusted among his comrades. Previously acquainted with fellow Alpha Team members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine prior to joining the S.T.A.R.S. unit, he was also a skilled marksman and fierce professional rival with Redfield, often competing against him in shooting tournaments.
During the mansion incident, Forest met his demise after being severely wounded within the mansion and retreating to the terrace, only to be finished off by a large number of T-Virus infected crows. The Alpha Team discovered him on the terrace, having been dead for hours. Shortly after, the effects of the T-Virus brought Forest back to life, although his blank eyes and pained groans showed the Alpha Team no signs of the man that he once was. Chris and the others were left with no choice but to kill their former comrade in self-defence. Jill then took Forest's grenade launcher and used it to ensure her own survival.
The zombified version of Forest (which was originally a creation of Director's Cut not found in the original, but has appeared in both the GameCube and Deadly Silence remakes as well) is much faster than the generic zombie, with an agility that is almost comparable to that of a Crimson Head. Although not part of the storyline, in the GameCube remake, an even deadlier version of the zombified Forest appears in certain areas of the Mansion when the player selects the "Once Again" mode after finishing the game once with both Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. This version of Forest is wearing a bandoleer equipped with dozens of grenades over his vest and shooting at him will cause it to detonate, destroying Forest, the surrounding area, and the player's character. Hence, he is deemed "one dangerous zombie", meaning he cannot be stopped.
In Deadly Silence, Forest is an unlockable character in the game's wireless multiplayer mode. The player can unlock Forest by completing Classic mode with Jill. He specializes in using the Grenade Launcher. His catch-phrase is: "Let's light this candle!"
Appearances: Resident Evil 0 (non-speaking cameo), Resident Evil
Kenneth J. Sullivan
}}Kenneth J. Sullivan was Bravo Team's pointman. He was the oldest member of the unit and was assigned the dangerous task of scouting and reconnaissance. He was also an accomplished chemist and thus, handled chemical protection duties for S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. He had a mild-mannered personality which contrasted his intimidating appearance and was a skilled gardener during his free time.
He was the first true Bravo Team casualty discovered by the members of Alpha Team upon their arrival to the Arklay Mansion. The team, hearing a gunshot fired from a nearby room, moved to investigate. However, they arrived too late to assist Sullivan, who had already been killed by a zombie; in denotation stating that Kenneth must've been truly exhausted from his previous ordeal out in the woods and in the mansion.
His death differs slightly between versions. In the original game (including Deadly Silence) Kenneth is decapitated by the zombie, with the left half of his head already devoured by the creature (shown only in the uncensored version of the scene). In the GameCube version, only his throat is torn out. The player can then search the corpse for a video recording of Kenneth's final moments from the CCD camcorder on his left shoulder, playing the footage in the lab's conference room at a much later point in the game.
In Deadly Silence, Kenneth is an unlockable character in the game's wireless multiplayer mode. The player can unlock Kenneth by completing Classic mode with Chris. He specializes in using the knife. His catch-phrase is: "I got you!"
Appearances: Resident Evil 0 (non-speaking cameo), Resident Evil
Others
Kevin Dooley
Kevin Dooley was a helicopter pilot working for the Raccoon Police Department. He was not an official S.T.A.R.S. operative, but had assisted the team before on various occasions. His prior occupation before being recruited by the R.P.D. was working as a stunt pilot for the entertainment industry.
Kevin was placed as Bravo Team's pilot instead of their regular pilot, Edward Dewey, when the team was dispatched to investigate the recent homicides that had occurred within the Arklay region. Edward instead acting as the team's navigator. When the helicopter suffered a serious engine failure mid-flight, Dooley managed to put it down in thick foliage without injuring a single member of Bravo Team, proving himself an exceptional pilot. Due to Kevin's lack of high-threat combat training and field experience, he was forced to stay put within the damaged helicopter whilst Bravo Team began their search for Billy Coen. On the following night, Kevin's corpse was found by Alpha Team's Joseph Frost, severely mutilated by the many infected Cerberus guard dogs wandering the forest. The same dogs that would later claim Joseph's life, too.
