2. July 2005: PCCW former owner of CSL has agreed in June to buy the 59.9% of shares held by the two biggest shareholders at HK$0.65 each share. The acquisition has received approval from Hong Kong's Office of the Telecommunications Authority, and has progressed to a mandatory unconditional cash offer to buy the remaining stock at HK$0.65 per share. Total cost to PCCW will be approx HK$1.942bn, allowing its reentry into the wireless market and access to Sunday's 3G (UMTS) licence.
