The following monarchs have reigned since the constitutional role of the Tongan monarchy was set forth in 1875, (see Line of succession to the Tongan Throne):

1. Siaosi Tāufaāhau Tupou I (1875—1893)
2. George Tupou II (1893—1918)
3. Sālote Tupou III (Queen) (1918—1965)
4. Tāufaāhau Tupou IV (1965— )
