List of submachine guns
Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIS : List of submachine guns
This is a partial list of submachine guns. It includes weapons that fit traditional definitions of a submachine gun, but also many assault rifles chambered for submachine gun or pistol cartridges, some machine pistols and many Personal Defense Weapons (PDWs). Some assault rifle carbines have been included as well. Most marginal cases can be considered a submachine gun in some circles, though those that are clearly not of the type have been excluded. The list is not comprehensive and may contain errors.

Compact Carbine, Subcarbine, Compact Assault rifle
Some, because they don't use pistol cartridges, or are a shortened assault rifle, are sometimes called something other than a submachine gun. They are separated out here, since they are not universally considered submachine guns.
