Lithium bromide

Lithium bromide, or LiBr, is chemical compound of lithium and bromide that is extremely hygroscopic and often used as a dessicant. It is white in appearance, and is a crystalline solid forming in granules or powder. It has a melting point of 552°C and a boiling point of 1265°C. Its density is 3.464 kg/cm3.[#endnote_webelements.com] Lithium bromide is irritating to the eyes and may cause CNS depression in large doses. [#endnote_gfschemicals.com].
Along with lithium chloride, it is frequently used in air conditioning and industrial drying systems.
