Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006
Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIT : Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006
On March 4, Lithuanian broadcaster LRT staged the final, which picked its Eurovision Song Contest 2006 representative. After a number of newcomer qualifying heats and three semi-finals, Lithuania managed to choose the band project LT United, which went on to sing We Are the Winners at the contest. The band hoped that European sense of humour would assist their entry to success, though the crowd in Athens gave them a mixed reaction. The novelty song includes the repetitive saying, which declares Lithuania as the winner of Eurovision 2006. The song is written and composed by Andrius Mamontovas and Saulius Urbonavičius.
Lithuania came fifth in the semifinal, before ending sixth in the final with 162 points.
