Liverpool John Moores University
Encyclopedia : L : LI : LIV : Liverpool John Moores University
Liverpool John Moores University is a university in Liverpool, United Kingdom. It is named after John Moores and was previously called Liverpool Polytechnic. It is not to be confused with the University of Liverpool or Liverpool Hope University, which are separate institutions also based in Liverpool.
Based primarily on three campuses, the university has over 24,000 [link] students including a large number of foreign students. These students are represented by the Liverpool Students' Union. This has a magazine called Havoc and a radio station called Shout FM.
Recently the John Moores Alumni Association created an Alumni Board and an Alumni Business Network Group.
Unfortunetly in recent years its reputation has somewhat weaned, often being reffered to as the poor cousin of The University of Liverpool.
Phil Redmond is Honorary Professor of Media Studies.
