The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), serves unincorporated parts of Los Angeles County, as well as 58 cities and towns that choose to have the county provide fire and EMS services, including the City of La Habra, in Orange County. It should not be confused with the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

The department was featured in the 1970s televison program Emergency! which dramatized the department's paramedic program.

Organization

The Los Angeles County Fire Department serves 58 cities with 21 Battalions and nine Divisions. There are three regional headquarters for LACOFD:

LACOFD has 164 Stations which house Engines, Quints, Paramedic Squads, ESTs, Water Tenders, Patrols as well as Hazardous Materials Squads and USAR Units.

LACOFD operates some of the most unique Units including the Firehawk http://lafiresherif.t35.com/fire/losangeles/lacofd/various/copter/c_16-1.htm a variation of the military Black Hawk. LACOFD has a large Air Force Which Consists of 4 Bell 412s 3 s70 Fire Hawks and 1 Bell 210.
