Lost Dogs (album)

''For the band called Lost Dogs, see The Lost Dogs.

Lost Dogs is a compilation album by the group Pearl Jam, released on November 11, 2003. The album is a double-disc collection of B-sides and other released and unreleased material. It also includes the hidden track "4/20/02" at the end of Disc 2. It is a tribute to Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. His body was found on that date after he died of a heroin overdose on April 5, 2002. A number of the songs included on Lost Dogs differ from the originally released versions. The changes are most obvious on "Footsteps," "Dirty Frank," "Alone," "Black, Red, Yellow" and "Hard To Imagine." Lost Dogs sold 89,500 in its first week of release.

"Angel" (from the 1993 Christmas single) was supposed to appear on Disc 2, but was deleted before release. There is still mention of it on the "lost dogs" flyers on the back cover. It is rumored to have been deleted to avoid giving former drummer Dave Abbruzzese royalties, as he wrote the music and played guitar on it.
