Low Rider is a song written by the band War. It reached number one on the Billboard R&B charts and peaked at number 35 on the Pop Singles chart.
This song has been covered by Exodus, Cypress Hill, Quando Quango, Barry White and KoЯn, though the former's version differed greatly. Another cover version is by Latin Alliance, while yet another was performed by Baby G & Rock Box. The former was also called "Low Rider", and the latter, "New Lowrider." It was featured on the first compilation in the Lowrider Soundtrack series. War's "Low Rider" was also significantly sampled by The Beastie Boys for their track "Slow Ride" on the 1986 album Licensed to Ill.
The song was featured in several movies, including the Cheech and Chong series, Dazed and Confused, Paulie, Beverly Hills Ninja and the 2000 remake of Gone in Sixty Seconds. It is also the theme song for The George Lopez Show and is featured in the video game, . Also, the Los Angeles Dodgers use this song as a theme song for player Nomar Garciaparra at Dodger Stadium when he comes up to bat.
