Encyclopedia : L : LU : LUQ : Luqa
Luqa (meaning poplar in Arabic) is a village located in the south east of Malta (Europe). It is an old town that reflects the Maltese Islands in its dense population. Luqa is quite important for the Maltese economy as the runway of the airport (which is in nearby Gudja) is found here. It boasts a beautiful Church in its main square, which is dedicated to St.Andrew. The traditional feast of St.Andrew is celebrated in July.
