M-30 was a Soviet 121.92 mm (4.8 inch) howitzer. The full official name of the weapon is 122 mm howitzer model 1938. The gun was successfully used in the World War II, remained in service for a long time after the end of the war. The M-30 was also sold to other countries. In some countries in Asia and Africa the gun is still in service.
History
The gun was developed at the ordnance plant in Motovilikha by a team lead by F. F. Petrov. It was employed by divisional artillery and High Command Reserve units.A slightly modified variant, M-30S, was used as the main armament of the SU-122 assault gun.
