M-66

M-66 is a north-south state highway in Michigan. It runs from the Indiana state line in the south to Charlevoix in the north. M-66 is the only Michigan State Highway to traverse almost the entire north-south distance of the lower peninsula.

Total length is 269 miles. It includes three miles of freeway between Interstate 94 and downtown Battle Creek known also as Interstate 194 but is otherwise a surface road.

Historical note: In the 1930's and 1940's, M-66 was originally designated on what is now M-91 and started at a junction with US 16.

Northern terminus

The northern terminus of M-66 is at the junction with US 31 in Charlevoix.

Southern terminus

The southern terminus is the Indiana state line south of Sturgis. It continues as SR 9 and gives access to the Indiana Toll Road.
