Meg is the movie adaptation of the
Steve Alten novel
. The film is about an eighty-foot long, 100,000 pound
Megalodon shark surfacing from the
Mariana Trench and wreaking havoc. It is currently set for release sometime in summer
2008.
New Line Cinema, known for the
Blade and
Lord of the Rings trilogies, is the company producing it.
Jan de Bont is slated to direct and
Shane Salerno is working on the script. The budget is supposed to be $175 million and it is described as a "tentpole" film by producer Nick Nunziata.
