MJ13 are a psychedelic rock band from London, England, currently signed to Little Dragon Records.
History
Founded in 2002, MJ13 was originally the stagename of founder Clancy Hood, adapted from his original stagename "Mushroom Jefferson" under which title he performed with guitarist Joseph Williams and drummer Donato Pompeii in Blue Hole (1995-1999), then by himself on London's electronica scene and around Europe and the Americas from 2000-2003.
Hood recorded MJ13's debut single "For Just A Minute In Your Mind" (2002) as a solo artist but later formed MJ13 with drummer Craig Rees and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Lee in the same year. Having toured Europe during 2003-2004 the band began work on an EP entitled The Ark but split before it was finished. Rees and Lee both left the band in 2004 to follow their own projects. Hood released an album of his own recordings entitled High Fraud under the name MJ13 in 2005. Since 2005 Hood has collaborated with drummer Anthony Johns to form the current line-up.
