MV Cotentin

Encyclopedia : M : MV : MVC : MV Cotentin

The M/V Cotentin is a freight ferry currently on order by Brittany Ferries from Aker Finnyards in Finland. Delivery is expected in September 2007 when she will replace the MV Coutances. Cotentin is name after the Cotentin Peninsula of France of which Cherbourg is its largest town. Cotentin was also the name of one of the original Truckline vessels to sail between Poole and Cherbourg.

It is likely the Cotentin will sail under the French flag and be registered in Cherbourg.

Regular Route

At present it is not decided on which UK port the Cotentin will sail from but she will be based in Cherbourg and it is planned she will complete at least one round trip to Santander a week.

Statistics

Onboard facilities

Details have not yet been released about the vessels facilities but it is likely to include a restaurant, bar and some sort of retail outlet much like the Coutances. Cotentin will be unique in the Brittany Ferries fleet in that each driver will have their own cabin. On other ships drivers share a 4-berth cabin.
