Magadan Oblast (Russian: ) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), in the Far Eastern Federal District. Its administrative center is the city of Magadan.

At 461,400 km², it is Russia's 13th largest subdivision, and at the same time one of the least populous (182,726 inhabitants as of the 2002 census).

Magadan Oblast is located in the Magadan Time Zone (MAGT/MAGST). UTC offset is +1100 (MAGT)/+1200 (MAGST).

Population (2002): 182,726

Ethnic groups: As of the 2002 census, ethnic Russians at 146,511 constitute 80.2% of the population, the rest identifying themselves as belonging to 104 different ethnic groups. Of these, most prominent are the Ukrainians at 18,068 (9.89%), the Evens at 2,527 (1.38%), the Belarusians at 2,169 (1.19%) and the Tatars at 2,006 (1.1%).
