Main-belt comet

Unlike most comets which originate in the Oort cloud, main-belt comets have near-circular orbits within the asteroid belt, but display a cometary dust tail (typically only near perihelion). It has been hypothesised that they may have been the source of Earth's water[link].
Presently there are three identified members:
- 133P/Elst-Pizarro
- (118401) 1999 RE70
- P/2005 U1
