Malhar is the intercollegiate youth festival conducted by the students of St. Xavier's College, Bombay, one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in India for the past 28 years. It is usually held in the week around 15th August and hosts a number of performing arts, literary arts and fine arts events, alongside informal audience games and many interesting exhibitions and workshops.
The organizational structure of Malhar has evolved over its long period of existence. The core group i.e the Organizing Committee is formed in the month of May. At the helm is the Trinity consisting of the Chair Person(CP), Vice Chairperson-Events(VCP-E) and Vice Chairperson Management(VCP-M).The other members head the various departments. The heads are popularly called OCs.The OCs then select the required number of organizers for their department. The OCs and their organizers then collectively choose volunteers for their departments. There are a total of 19 departments as of Malhar 2006 - 8 event departments and 11 management departments.

The Malhar workforce consists of a 1000+ students. It marks the beginning of the string of college festivals that happen throughout the year, and the numbers of students visiting Malhar rise steadily each year. It attracts major sponsors from MTV to Orange (now Hutch) each year, and is famous for its celebrity judges and the high quality of events and entertainment. It is still the most remarkable example of student-organised events in Mumbai, run entirely by students who work non-stop April through to August, from organising funds and getting sponsors to ensuring that the 7000+ attendees have an enjoyable and safe experience in the campus. Malhar 2005 saw the reintroduction of the band event and is bound to draw more crowds in August 2006.
