Malibu High School

Malibu High School (MHS) is a secondary public school in Malibu, California. It is home to a high school and middle school, both sharing the same campus. The school has two newspapers— The Current (high school paper) and The Surfwriter (middle school paper). Malibu High is part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. Until the 1980s, students from Malibu were required to bus into Santa Monica for grades 10-12. The former Malibu Park Junior High is now Malibu High School. Malibu High has been recognized as a California Distinguished School. Newsweek Magazine's Top 1200 Schools in America ranks MHS 237th best school in America and 28th in California as of 2006.

Trivia
- Scenes from the movie Smile (2005) were shot at MHS. In fact, the film revolves around the international organization, Operation Smile, which the school sponsors, and portrays several real life MHS figures, such as former principal Mike Matthews (played by Sean Astin).
- Scenes from the Disney Channel Original Movie Brink! (1998) were also shot at MHS.
