Maltese nobility

The Maltese nobility consist of those titles of nobility recognised by the British and those titles never presented to, or failed recognition by, the Royal Commission, even though the titles were of historical relevance. (See Committee of Privileges of the Maltese Nobility.); and Foreign titles which were either confirmed or inherited by a person of Maltese descent. (See The Association of Foreign Title Holders in Malta and also those whom followed Tsar Paul when he had became the Grand Master of St John called Maltese Russian Nobility. The Nobility in Malta started from the earliest times with the Arabs, the Normans, and all succeeding rulers thereafter. The Maltese nobility also included those who settled from other parts of Europe maintaining their ancient rights. A great connection to the Byzantine, Norman, Aragonese, Ottoman, and Capetian royal families stem into very much the descendants of the nobles and landed gentry in Malta. When Tsar Paul I had become Grand Master of the Order of St John of Rhodes and Malta, the tsar had asked for a group of Maltese gentleman to serve and continue the connection with Malta. This group had been ennobled and settled in Russia. Descendants of the Maltese nobility carried out an existents in Russia until the fall of the Empire in 1918.

Titles consist of princes, marquises, counts, barons and hereditary knighthoods from the Holy Roman Empire, and patricianships from Italian states.
