Encyclopedia : M : MA : MAN : Mansion House tube station
Mansion House is a London Underground station in the City of London, near Mansion House (although Bank is actually closer). It is a sub-surface station served by trains on the Circle Line and District Line between Blackfriars and Cannon Street. It is in Travelcard Zone 1.
The station originally opened in 1887. Between 1989 and 1991 Mansion House was closed for a total renovation; the station architecture and decor dates from that period.
First trains out of the station are:
- 05:30 and 05:45, westbound, Monday to Saturday, and 06:58 on Sunday.
- Eastbound 05:32 and 05:49 Monday to Saturday, 06:59 and 07:10 Sunday.
- 00:25 and 00:30 Monday to Saturday westbound, and 23:23 and 23:54 Sunday.
- Eastbound 00:25 and 00:46 Monday to Saturday, 23:51 and 00:08 Sunday.
Trivia
Recent years has seen the station becoming featured in several trivia quiz questions, as it is one of only two stations on the Underground to have all of the five vowels in its name (the other being South Ealing).{| class="wikitable" style="margin: 0.5em auto; text-align: center; clear: both;" |- !
