Encyclopedia : M : MA : MAN : Mantario Trail
The Mantario Trail is a trail in south-eastern Manitoba, Canada. It is named Mantario because of the lake the trail passes at the midway point. The trail is predominently in Manitoba - in the Whiteshell Provincial Park and enters into Ontario for a short stretch. It runs 66 kilometers through rugged Canadian Shield (Precambrian Shield) country. The south trailhead is north of Westhawk Lake and the north trailhead on the north side of Big Whiteshell Lake. This is definitely a trail designed for experienced and well-prepared backpackers. There are companies that offer guided hiking trips on the Mantario Trail.
