- The United States Geological Survey publishes 1:24,000 scale, 7.5-minute quadrangle topographic maps of the US.
- DeLorme publishes atlases of all fifty U.S. states with California divided into two atlases and Maryland and Delaware and Connecticut and Rhode Island combined.
Printed street and road maps
In most states, the Departments of Transportation publishes official state maps, which are available at state and local government offices, tourist centers, online, or via mail. Some other publishers of maps and atlases of the US, individual states and cities include:
- DeLorme topographical atlases also include route number and road name information.
- Rand McNally is a major producer of US road maps and atlases inlcuding the annual Road Atlas.
- The National Geographic Society publishes the National Geographic Road Atlas.
- AAA (formerly the American Automobile Association) is a major producer of US road maps and atlases.
- Benchmark Maps produces "Road & Recreation Atlases" for several western states.
- The American Map-Langenscheidt Publishing Group publishes American Map, ADC, Arrow Map, and Hagstrom Map state and city maps and atlases.
- Universal Map has national coverage

- The National Geographic Society publishes a series of regional political maps of the US and Canada.

- DeLorme publishes Street Atlas USA on CD-ROM and Street Atlas USA Plus on DVD-ROM.
Online maps
- The National Atlas of the United States of America was authorized in 1997 and is an entirely online atlas.
- The United States Census Bureau produces an array of maps related to US Census data via the American Factfinder database.
- Perry-Castañeda Library at the University of Texas at Austin has an extensive online collection of scanned maps of the US.
Online topographic maps
- The United States Geological Survey hosts The National Map, an online, interactive topographical map service.
Online street and road maps
Google Maps, MapQuest, Rand McNally and Yahoo! Maps all provide map coverage of the US. Google Earth is a software application that uses online information to provide a number of map, GIS, and satellite image services.
