Maramureş region

Maramureş (Hungarian: Máramaros; Latin: Marmatia; Ukrainian: Мармарощина, Marmaroščyna) is a historical region of Romania, along the Tisza River.
In present day, most of the historical region Maramures forms the Maramureş County and parts of Satu Mare County of Romania; its northern section is included in the Zakarpattia Oblast of southwestern Ukraine.
During the administration of the Kingdom of Hungary, Maramures formed the southern part of the Máramaros comitatus, and part of the Szolnok-Doboka comitatus.
