Mariano Paredes y Arrillaga (born in Mexico City in 1797; died in September, 1849) was an ultraconservative Mexican general and president. He took power in coup d'etat in 1846. He was the president at the start of the Mexican-American War. He was overthrown by Antonio López de Santa Anna and went into exile in 1847.
