Marina Prior

Marina Prior (born in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea) is a famous Australian opera singer. She has risen from busking on the streets of Melbourne, to performing leading roles in many musicals such as Les Miserables, The Secret Garden and West Side Story. Known for her soprano voice, she was the first Australian 'Christine' in The Phantom of the Opera and made her professional theatrical debut as 'Mabel' in The Pirates of Penzance (Papp version) in 1984, alongside Simon Gallaher as 'Frederic' and Jon English as 'The Pirate King'. Her other stage roles include the title role in The Merry Widow in 1999 (Essgee Entertainment), alongside her 'Phantom' understudy, Helen Donaldson. 
In 2006, Marina Prior was announced to be a judge on Seven Network reality television series It Takes Two.

Prior is a well-known supporter of the St Kilda Football Club.

Marina Prior attended Syndal South Primary School.
