As a market-emphasized descendant of classical liberalism, market liberalism advocates free markets, which are only regulated in so far as necessary, e.g. to avoid market failures, such as monopolies and cartels.

Other uses

Since nowadays the word liberal has become ambiguous, often market liberal is used to refer to what liberal previously meant, including all aspects of individual freedom. Thus, market liberalism means often something close to classical liberalism. Similarly, the word economic liberal is often used for the supporters of the economic aspects of market liberalism (classical liberalism), regardless of attitudes towards the other aspects of individual freedom.
